{this post has been in draft mode for 18 days ...now our 'baby brother' is ONE MONTH OLD!? how did that happen?}
It's amazing how days just fly right by! I still feel like he was just born a couple days ago! So Friday afternoon...my girls just had to break the lid to my coveted pear cookie jar! Imagine how mad I was...
So I left...to go to Robert's to get some glue...of course they were out of what I wanted. Then I went to Ross to see if they had any newborn 'boy' onsies, just in case, but they were out! I bought some pink & brown dish towels to make some burp cloths when I got home. Stopped at Chick Fil A to get an oreo shake, and then decided to go to Carter's to buy some baby clothes! I was sure hoping that I would have the baby that weekend! Just a couple days before I got out all the baby clothes and pulled out the newborn stuff...I didn't save much! Still assuming that I was having a girl, I bought all girl stuff, and then a 5 pk of boy onesies. Then I went to another Robert's and then came home.
The house was a disaster! Levi was working on the computer down in the basement, and the girls just had another free for all. Every room was a mess. Food every where in the living room. I didn't do the dishes that day...
I glued my lid to the pear jar back together, and then started cutting fabric strips for my burp cloths. As I was getting the ironing board out, I started to have contractions. Sure...never when you expect, or when you would have thought to have them! I waited a while to make sure. Then I realized...I am going to have this baby tonight! I 'stomped' on the floor {for Levi to come up} but he was too busy working...I texted him, but he was on the phone, I even yelled for him a couple times. I didn't want to walk downstairs lol! So I continued to sew some ruffles onto the dish towels...and then he finally came up. I told him that I was starting to have contractions and that he needed to have the house clean before he called Valerie...our midwife. Seriously who wants to have a baby in a messy house! I have kept it almost spotless, except for that day, go figure! So Levi got things picked up and presentable and then called her to let her know that she should be on her way. She said 'oh she will probably go all night' so I'm going back to bed! I thought is she serious!? She is going to miss the birth! She said she was up all night with another lady who didn't even have the baby. I made Levi call her back...and heard him saying that she could sleep in Gulianna's bed...I told him, I don't think there will be time for sleeping lol! She called back 10 minutes later and said she was on her way, phew! Levi finished cleaning the house, all except for mopping the floors and cleaning the bathrooms. I would have done them, however I was sewing my burp cloths :)
My contractions started out every 5 minutes, but then changed to every 10, then 5 then 15...not consistent at all. I think Valerie showed up by midnight, checked me and I was already at a 'seven'...She set her stuff up in our room. I finished sewing 3 burp cloths. We went through our stuff and made sure we had everything, then I realized I didn't ever wash the 2 towels that I bought for when the baby comes out. So I threw those in the washer along with the burp cloths. Jenny {the midwife in training} showed up and they started to make Valerie's chicken noodle soup...Levi helped. I'm trying to remember what I was doing, I think picking up stuff in my bedroom, and checking the girls, Levi put them in bed, but they were not tired! They were actually so hyper, Levi made cookies while I was gone.
Oh yeah...I now I remember...I came home, pulled up in the driveway and Gulianna comes out of the garage and says 'mom! remember last night when isa started a fire? she was burning the house!' She says 'last night, but means tonight'...I knew she did something bad! That's when I walked in to a disaster, cookies stacked on the coffee table, and Gulianna showed me what Isa did! I noticed the microwave was gone...Gulianna opened up the back door and there it was. She said 'see! isa burned fire' as she opened it up. She had put in our crappy defective Pampered Chef can opener in it, and fried it to a crisp!
Gulianna said she was crying and couldn't find me, she ran downstairs and told dad. He came running up and chucked the microwave out the back door! He said they were both freaking out, I'm sure Isa was only crying because of Gulianna.
I should have known that something like that would eventually happen. They are constantly playing with the microwave. It didn't help that it was sitting on top of an old crate off the floor at a perfect level for them. But there is no counter space, and I didn't want it taking up what little space we have here! So yes I came home to both my girls running and screaming around the house, little terrors!
They finally fell asleep, I don't remember what time. Everyone sat around in our room talking, while I stood at the end of our bed going through contractions. They weren't bad. Levi turned on the tv...and then Valerie told him to shut it off! I would have rather had it on to break the silence here and there. lol. She had checked me again and said I could start pushing. But when it was time to push {around 2am}, I almost couldn't remember how. So the first couple of times didn't do much. I think I just couldn't believe that I was actually having the baby then...and another one for that matter. Then you realize, what are you doing! And then it's over...I hate the pressure that you feel, that's the worst! And then the baby comes out and you feel so much better! Then you realize how is it that another human being can actually grow in your stomach! And you look at your baby, and think of how he was all folded up inside!
As I was holding him...I actually still thought I had a girl, because no one said anything when he came out! It wasn't until Jenny was putting on a boy hat, and I thought 'what is she doing? she grabbed the wrong hat!' Valerie said 'are you ready to find out what you have, open those legs!' Of course it was only obvious with the hat :) By then I think I was going into shock...that I actually had a boy and not a girl! This whole time...who knew! Not me! Valerie leaves the cord attached for about an hour so that the they can get all the nutrients and blood. Then she had Levi cut it. She weighed him, and measured him...we both couldn't believe that he was actually 8 lbs! 8 lbs and 2 oz. Valerie and Jenny left around 4 am...Gulianna woke up, Levi told her to come in and see her new baby brother!
She was so tired, but excited! We all went to bed around 4:30am. Except I kept waking up every hour or so to go to the bathroom...and I had to make sure the baby was still breathing, they are so quiet! We woke up around 10...10:30am? I can't remember exactly...both Gulianna and Isabella were so happy to see the baby! Their little baby brother!
....hmmmm....now I don't remember what else I was going to say it's been so long! It took us ten days to finally decide his name, Anthony Levi King. we had a name picked out for almost 3 years now, and then right after he was born, we looked at each other and said what are we going to name him? Levi said "Anthony?" That name had just popped into his head. We never thought of it before. {My brother's name is Anthony, and he goes by Anthony, as well as my uncle, but he goes by Tony} So we went back and forth between 2 names for days and days...
Let me add that it has been a very long tradition of "Culbert Levi King" in Levi's family, like maybe 8? that is Levi's name as well...can you see why he doesn't go by Culbert?! lol! We always joke around...CuuulllBERT! anyway, I broke the chain of a bad name! ha ha!
So Sunday, the day after Anthony was born, Jeremy and his kids came over to visit in the morning, as well as Claudia and Daniel in the afternoon and Nancy and Ty and their kids. Then after they left our home teachers came over, they were shocked that I just had a baby, and at home! Gulianna was being to hyper, I think her cousins helped rile her up :) anyway, one of our home teachers asked what the baby's name was and we said we were still thinking about it, and he said "you should name him Antonio!" We told him we were actually thinking of Anthony, and he said, "well there's your sign from God" lol! Then our visiting teachers came over to stop by, which they also didn't know that I just had the baby!
By the time everyone left it was around 10:30pm...and we were starving! We all hadn't eaten anything since 3:30! I remember eating a yogurt, peanut butter & jelly sandwich, a chocolate banana shake {that Levi made} and then a piece of yellow cake with chocolate frosting, mmm...what a dinner! Makes me hungry now that I'm typing this at 4am!
We went to bed late that night, our usual time around 2 am and then woke up around 10am on Monday morning. I got up, nursed the baby, then checked my phone for missed calls...and found out that my parents were on their way down to visit for the day! They were going to be there in a couple hours! So we rushed to clean the house, sent Gulianna over to the neighbor's house, {she was promised from the day before that she could go play dress ups with her friend} we got ready and before we knew it they had arrived! It was nice that they came down to visit even if it was only for a couple of hours. My dad went to El Pollo Loco to get us some lunch, it's his favorite place ever!
Then on Tuesday I couldn't wait to get out of the house...it was only 3 days, and already I was feeling 'confined to the house' lol! We went to the library to drop off overdue books and then to Walmart to get newborn diapers and groceries.
Thursday my aunt and uncle from California stopped by to visit, they were on their way to visit my parents for a week! We had wanted to go that weekend as well, but it was too soon for Levi.
Friday we went to my niece's birthday party. Saturday we went to her baptism, and then took off afterwards to Swiss Days in Midway. It was super busy, with a ton of craft booths. We had 'swiss tacos' for lunch, and then checked out all the booths. I didn't even by a single thing! There was a ton of cute stuff, but I felt that I didn't need anything, and what I did see I could just make myself. A lot of inspiration though and ideas :) Before we left we had a rootbeer float and a slice of cheesecake at a cute little place on the corner. We got home in time to meet my brother Anthony, {actually he beat us there} he was staying the night, also on his way to Idaho from California.
We had a busy week filled with lots of visitors, in between nursing the baby and trying to devote some attention to Gulianna and Isa, and keep them out of trouble! The next week I went back to Carter's to exchange the baby girl clothes that I had bought for some boy ones :) Claudia went with me. We went to our 'usual' stores...Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Roberts, and grabbed a Jamba. Claudia had to go to Sam's but by the time we got there, they had just closed, {early because of Labor Day} oops!
Since then we've been up here in Idaho, left a couple weeks ago on Tuesday the 14th...Levi has had chimney jobs as well as some cement jobs to do, so that we can finish paying off our midwife :)
We stayed at Aros and Lana's in Rexburg until Saturday, then came up to my parents house. I've been here all week. Levi stayed at Aros' through the week, and then just came up Friday night. The plan was that Levi was going to borrow a vehicle from his dad for work and then I would have ours, but that didn't work out...which was fine because we've been sick with colds since last weekend! Lana's kids were just getting over colds when we got there, so of course we had to take over :)
Cherry came over to visit on Friday, then we went to visit her and Corey today as well as Sally & Aaron. It seems that every time we come up there are too many people to visit and not enough time! So I apologize to those we didn't get to see! We drove by our old home, all the trees are huge now! Things have changed even more in Driggs...it doesn't feel the same anymore. It's wierd to think that we all used to live there, and now we all live in Utah, except for my parents and Cherry & Corey.
Well...I better put and end to this...and go to bed! When I get home and get my memory card unloaded, I have lots of pictures to share! I can't believe that September has come and gone just like that!
